Welcome to the Homepage of Associate Professor Ross McGeary and his research group!

We are located within the School of Chemistry & Molecular Biosciences at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. The research activities of the group centre on synthetic organic chemistry, biological chemistry and medicinal chemistry. Projects within the group encompass a range of areas, from biologically-oriented chemistry, mainstream synthetic methodology, through to physical organic chemistry. Our group has strong collaborative links with researchers from other Schools and Institutions within the University of Queensland, and internationally. Please have a look around and feel free to contact me for further information.

Brief Curriculum Vitae of Ross McGeary

Ross McGeary graduated with a BSc from Deakin University in 1987, and then he obtained a BSc (Hons I) in organic chemistry from Monash University in 1988. In 1992 he was awarded a PhD from Monash University, under the supervision of Professor Roger F. C. Brown. His work involved the synthesis of novel heterocyclic systems by flash vacuum thermolysis. After a brief period at the CSIRO, he spent two years at Cambridge, U.K., before returning to Australia to take up a position at the University of Queensland. In 2002 he was awarded a Masters degree in Technology Management from the University of Queensland, and in October of that year he was appointed to a Lectureship in Biological Chemistry. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2006. In 2009 he spent a six-month sabbatical with Professor Chris Schofield at Oxford University. In 2010 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, and in 2011 he was promoted to Associate Professor.
